GreatBuildz is a free contractor-matching service, founded in 2019 by Jon Grishpul and Paul Dashevsky, that connects homeowners across California with reliable, pre-screened general contractors. We hand-match up to three vetted contractors for your specific project, usually within 24 to 48 hours, and support you through completion.

Our network is invite-only. Every contractor passes a rigorous screening, license and insurance verification, five or more years in business, calls to past clients, an owner interview, and a criminal background check, and fewer than 5% make it into our network. Contractors never pay to join or for placement, so our matches are based on fit, not fees.

How We Make Money

GreatBuildz is free for homeowners. Contractors pay us a success fee only when you hire them for your project, and we don’t get paid in full until the project is completed to your satisfaction. Contractors don’t pay to join our network or to be placed in front of you, and we never sell your contact details as a lead.

That is why we stay involved and support you through the whole project. Pay-per-lead sites get paid when your phone number is sold, whether or not you hire anyone. We get paid in full only when your project is done right, and a contractor who lets homeowners down stops getting our referrals.

Jon Grishpul grew up in a family that was deeply involved in the construction industry. In his youth, he worked alongside his grandfather, who was an electrical contractor. This hands-on experience allowed him to gain a deep understanding of the challenges and complexities involved in the construction
business. This, coupled with his passion for solving problems and helping others, inspired him to start GreatBuildz. Jon holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Cal Poly SLO.
